The true stars of the blockbuster animated franchise Despicable Me have arguably never been the main character and supervillain Gru, his arch-enemy Vector, or even the unicorn-obsessed Agnes, but the many stout-bodied, goggle-wearing Minions. Now a firm fan favorite for their unabashed manner of speaking in gibberish and silly antics, Universal Pictures has chosen to honor the Minions with their own movie, simply titled Minions. Conceived as a prequel to the first Despicable Me film, the trailer sets the stage by recounting the history of the Minions and their age-old quest in search of an evil master to serve, following the exploits of three particular Minions as they land in New York in ’68. Starring the voice talents of Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm and Bill Nighy, the film is set to be released in July 2015.
